Trinidad
and Tobago's National Commission has selected
Kerisha Bowen for a UNESCO Young Women in
Science Fellowship for 2008. The award is
designed to help promote women who are in their
final stages of their Ph.D. or have recently received
their Ph.D.
Ms.
Bowen is doing synthetic organic chemistry research
toward a Ph.D. in Professor Franklin Davis's group.
Her dissertation will focus on "The Utilization
of Sulfinimines (N-Sulfinyl Imines) in the Synthesis
of Nitrogen Containing Compounds." A paper describing
her most recent results was recently published.
