The Chemistry Help Page

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN FOR CURRENT SYLLABI

The faculty of the Chemistry Department have listed links on this page to various course-related documents. The list isorganized by course number. Names of the instructors are also provided.  Some material is present in pdf format and can be read with an Adobe Acrobat(R) Reader. The Reader is generally available free of charge from Adobe, Inc.. An e-link to the Office of Undergraduate Advising, in the College of Science and Technology is provided here.  Information regarding the availability of course offerings across the University can be found by clicking here.
Academic support for many of the courses listed below isprovided by the Math and Science Resources Center (MSRC) located in Rooms 201 and 208, 1810 Liacouras Walk. The services provided include one-on-one tutoring, a computer lab equipped with math and science software, weekly group tutorials/supplementary instruction, final exam review sessions, and a resource library. Operational hours for the current semester maybe found by clicking here.

The Chemistry Department also has a Student Advisor/Ombudsperson (SA/O). For the Fall 2010-Spring 2011,  the responsibility has been undertaken by the very capable Mr. Abishek Mandal. His office is BE228, his phone number is 215-204-9351, and his e-mail address is amandal@temple.edu. The College of Science and Technology (CST) grievance policy can be found by clicking here .

Students are encouraged to comment on their classroom experiences during the term and may do so by filling out the form to be found here.
In addition to the course specific information, a Periodic Table is available and the American Chemical Society(ACS) and the Temple Library sites can also be accessed. Some interesting chemistry material can also be found at Web-stirs' and several good sites for examining various models of orbitals and compounds are also available. A significant amount of information is also available at Rolf Claessen's Chemistry Index and a table of physical constants, useful in many of the courses we offer, is being worked on and added to as needed. A NISTdata base has also been created with many physical constants and it can be found here .  A table for the Organic Chemistry classes with some infrared (IR)and nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) data for use in problem solving is also here (and always underconstruction). The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has an online searchable database that contains spectroscopic and thermodynamic data for many organic compounds. Computational work can be explored from any computer within Beury Hall using the Departmental version of WebMO which can be accessed in Beury Hall ONLY from the Department Server.
The online tutorial for The Science of Synthesis can be found here .
The most recent Undergraduate University Bulletin entry for the Departmentof Chemistry can be examined by clicking here and the one for the Graduate Program is found here .
