Re: Temple University/City of Philadelphia
Dear Peter:
This letter will express our enthusiastic support for your recommendation to move the Tyler School of Art from Elkins Park to Philadelphia into state-of-the-art consolidated facilities located on Temple's Main Campus in North Philadelphia. We appreciate very much your confidence in the City as a whole and in North Philadelphia in particular in making this recommendation to Temple's Board of Trustees.
While there are some issues to address, you have our assurances that we will support Temple's efforts to relocate the Tyler School to Temple's Main Campus and facilitate whatever City approvals are necessary to accomplish this objective. Among other things, we agree to work with you in securing the prompt concurrence of the Department of Housing and Urban Development, the Commonwealth, and the community groups that were signatories to the original Community-Temple Agreement of 1970 (the "Charrette Agreement") in order to make available to Temple the "charrette" block bounded by Montgomery Avenue, Berks, Warnock, and 11th Streets (identified as Block 6 in the Charrette Agreement).
