The mission of the CBUHP is to serve as an advocate for health equity within health care research, delivery, and education. The Center works towards this mission through in the following ways:

  • Providing education that exposes students and practitioners to the unique issues and questions that arise in the urban context of density and diversity;
  • Integrating the social determinants of health into education, service delivery, and research;
  • Joining with community members to be a voice for underserved and marginalized populations locally and nationally;
  • Working with policy makers on ethical and urban health care issues that impact service delivery, medical educaiton, research, and quality of care.
