THE CARVER SUMMER SCHOLARS PROGRAM

The 2008 George Washington Carver Summer Scholars Program consists of three-four weeks of science activities and fun with a focus on water quality and watersheds. There is one session for students entering 5th or 6th grade and another session for students entering 7th or 8th grade. Each session costs $45 per student for all activities and field trips. Scholarships are available, based on need.

Students who participated in the George Washington Carver Science Fair are eligible to apply for the summer session held at The Academy of Natural Sciences.

Students will learn about science and the environment by:

-Studying water and other environmental issues.
-Performing scientific experiments with the help of the Academy's scientists.
-Exploring the Academy's local and regional laboratories.
-Making trips to aquatic environments.

Students will develop a science project on a water quality related topic and present their work at a mini-fair at the end of the session.
Up to 30 students will be accepted to each session on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The 2009 Summer Scholars Program dates will be announced at the 2009 Carver Science Fair.
