Career Self-Assessment The learning outcome for this stage in the career development process is to develop self awareness. To complete this step, you can create a profile of yourself, which includes your strengths, interests, values, and personality. We can assist you in this area by providing the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator and the Strong Interest Inventory. Schedule an appointment with a Career Counselor to help interpret these instruments and develop a strategy for moving forward in the process. Outcome for Stage 1: Self Awareness Create a profile of yourself (including your values, interests, personality/workstyle, and strengths. 2. Career Exploration The learning outcome for this stage in the career development process is to stimulate curiosity. To complete this step, explore your options, match your profile with the positions you're interested in pursuing, and identify organizations with these positions. We assist you in this area by providing experiential learning opportunities (Externship Program, Co-op Program and Internships, Mentoring Program, etc.). We also have Career Path Information Sheets identifying what you can do with you major along with web-based resources for more information. Outcome for Stage 2: Curiosity - Explore your options

3. The Job Search The learning outcome for this stage is to develop a marketing plan. To complete this step, create the necessary documents you need for the job search (resumes, cover letters, etc). You should also prepare for interviews, and develop an outreach strategy to create interviews. We assist you in this step of the process with a wide range of related workshops, one-on-one counseling/advising, career fairs, videotaped mock interviews, resume critiques, on campus recruiting, etc. Outcome for Stage 3: Marketing Plan - Create the necessary documents you need for the job search (resume, cover letter, etc.)

4. Success On-The Job The learning outcome for this stage is professionalism. To complete this step, develop an understanding of workplace culture, politics in the workplace, the value of paying dues early on, managing occupational stress, and creating a work/life balance that suits you. Outcomes for Stage 4: Professionalism - Develop an understanding of professionalism, politics in the workplace, and paying dues.
