Roller Hockey Club Update
 
For the second consecutive time, both the DII Team and B Team suffered only one loss a piece. The B Team (5-2) played three games on Saturday, November 14th and won all three games, including two big wins over Towson University. The first time the Owls played the Tigers, the Owls outscored them with 5-3. Later on in the night, the Owls clawed their way to a 9-5 win. Unfortunately, the B Team ended the weekend with a tough 11-4 loss to the University of Buffalo this past Sunday, November 15th. Next weekend when the Owls travel to Long Island for the next tournament, Temple B Team will face off against Suffolk CC, Hofstra, Rutgers, and Stoneybrook.
The DII Team (5-2) started the weekend off with a 5-3 win over Slippery Rock, a team that beat the Owls previously during pre-season, on Saturday, November 14th. It was the only game of the day, and Temple left everything on the rink. On Sunday morning at an early time of 7:30 AM, Temple suffered a heartbreaking 4-1 loss to Brockport. After controlling the first period and holding onto a 1-0 lead, the Owls watched the game slip away as costly mistakes hurt the most. But Temple bounced back later on in the day with a commanding 12-4 win over Cornell. Next weekend in Long Island, the Owls will face off against the Northern Conference, which consists of Binghamton, Main, Albany and Boston.
Opening weekend was a successful weekend for both squads.On day 1 of the 2-day hockey weekend for the Owls, both teams opened up with a win. The Division II Team handed Drexel a 9-2 defeat, while the B Team out -scored Suffolk County Community College by a score of 4-1. Later in the day, the D II Owls suffered an 8-3 loss to West Chester University, but then bounce back with a 9-3 win over Millersville. The B Team finished off day 1 with a 6-4 win over Hofstra.
 
The biggest win of the weekend for the Owls came on day 2 when the D II Team went up against Neumann University. Previous to this game, the Owls have never beaten Neumann (1-14), datinga ll the way back to 2004. After a stellar all-around performance, Temple was able to come out with a 4-2 victory over the Knights. This win increased the D II record to 3-1, a great start. The B Team ended their weekend with a tough 8-5 loss against West Chester, giving them a 2-1 record. Both teams only suffered one loss, a gerat start to the season. With both teams playing well during their first weekend of regular season play, there are big expectations for the rest of the year.

Division II Team:
  • Josh Altman lead the team in scoring this weekend with 8 points (4g,4a).
  • Mike Peterson leads the league in power play goals with 5.
  • Keith Goodman played well in his debut, finishing the weekend with 7 points (3g,4a) which is good for second on the team
  • Johnny Mehler currently sits at second in the league among goalies in GAA (2.50) and save percentage (.896)
B Team:
  • Paul Rubinsky lead the B Team in scoring for the weekend with 5 points (4g,1a). Two of his goals were shorthanded, which leads the league. Also, Paul escaped the weekend without any major injuries, whish is a first for him.
  • In his regular season tournament, Michael Craige has a strong weekend scoring 3 goals in addition to acting as the teams enforcer for much of the weekend.
  • Chris Gough led the team with 3 assist on the weekend.
