Upon completion of all skills and written tests, this course will certify the participant in American Red Cross Lifeguarding and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Students must pass a prerequisite swim test on the first day of class. This course provides the skills and knowledge needed to become a lifeguard in a non-surf environment. Due to the nature of the course there will be homework!!!! All learning materials will be provided in the course fee. Participants who successfully complete this course will receive American Red Cross certifications in Lifeguard Training and CPR for the Professional Rescuer with AED good at almost any jobsite nationally. Due to the amount of material covered each week, it is suggested that students must attend every class session to become certified. There will be no make up sessions.
Prerequisites: Participant must be the child of a Temple University Student, Staff, Faculty, Administrator who is between 15 years and 24 yrs.of age; can swim 500 yards (20 laps) continuously using front crawl and breaststroke; Swim 20 yards, retrieve 10 pound brick from depth of 10 feet and return brick to wall.
