One of the highest priorities of Center for Asian Health is to contribute to the knowledge base about the health status of Asian Americans with the aim of reducing or eliminating health disparities in these populations. This is accomplished through the dissemination of new research findings in scientific journals, and through publications that have immediate utility in the community. Since its inception in 2000, the Center for Asian Health has over fifty (50) scientific publications, covering a wide range of areas that reflect Center's expanding scope of behavioral and clinical scientific research activities in response to the specific needs of Asian American communities, addressing critical health and service delivery disparity issues in tobacco, Hepatitis B, cancer, and other chronic illnesses in Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Cambodian, and other Asian ethnic populations. The continuing involvement of Center for Asian Health in education of Asian American communities is considered an integral component of the Center's community-based participatory process and is a strategic element in the long -range goal of achieving equity in health and healthcare services. To accomplish this, the Center has developed culturally and linguistically appropriate educational publications that target a variety of health issues. A number of these publications have been pilot-tested, while others, adapted to specific Asian subgroups, have already been shown to be effective. Most of the Center's educational publications are available in several Asian languages and English.
