What is the University Services Fee and what does it cover?

The University Services Fee is a single, comprehensive fee that helps fund a number of university services for students including:

• Funding for state-of-the-art computer equipment and technologies to provide support for the students’ academic experiences, including e-mail access and modern lab facilities.
• Access to all student activities, events and recreational facilities.
• Expansion and maintenance of recreational and facilities to enhance and improve student life and activities.
• Availability of basic student health and treatment services provided by nurses and physicians on campus.

How much is the University Services Fee and who pays it?

All students are required to pay the University Services Fee, which is based on the number of credits for which a student is registered.  The fee structure for the 2010 Fall and 2011 Spring semesters is:

• Enrolled for 9 or more credits - $295.00
• Enrolled for 5 to 8 credits - $213.00
• Enrolled for 1 to 4 credits - $104.00

The fee structure for each summer semester is:

• Enrolled for 9 or more credits - $148.00
• Enrolled for 5 to 8 credits - $113.00
• Enrolled for 1 to 4 credits - $66.00

Did the university services fee increase for the 2010-2011 school year?

No, there is no increase for university services fees for 2010-2011.

Can I pay only a portion of the entire University Services Fee if I don’t want to use some of the services provided by Temple?

No.  All students are required to pay the entire fee since Temple makes all facilities, services and activities available to the entire student body.

Why did the University consolidate five mandatory fees into a single comprehensive fee?

Questions and comments from students and families indicated our previous fee structure was complicated and confusing.  As a result, Temple has adopted a practice common at other universities that consolidates all fees into one..
