0150. Teaching Science: N-6 (3 s.h.) FS (yearly)

Prerequisites: Education 0121 and General Studies Science requirement.

An introductory, activity-oriented approach to materials and methodology appropriate to teaching science in kindergarten through sixth grade. Emphasis on development of inquiry techniques and the constructivist theory of learning stressed in most of the newer early childhood and elementary science programs. Practical application through experiences with children. Must be admitted to the Certification program.

0355. The Teaching of Science (Preservice) (3 s.h. each) S

For students beginning their classes in science teaching at the secondary level. Science Education 0355 is taken concurrently with student teaching. Role of science education in the secondary curriculum, and sources of material and content for teaching physical, biological, and earth sciences. Must be admitted to the Certification program.
