Quantitative Reasoning

This area of the Core curriculum reflects our belief that the development of mathematical fluency is an indispensable component of a university education. In addition to helping students learn to think quantitatively, Quantitative Reasoning courses provide students with the knowledge and skills needed in their academic majors. These courses enable students to sharpen their problem-solving skills, enhance their understanding of formal reasoning, and develop methods for handling quantified or quantifiable data.

Requirement: One first-level (QA) course and one second-level (QB) course chosen from the approved lists below.

NOTE: Students should not take a QB course unless they have completed an appropriate prerequisite QA course with a grade of C- or higher. Placement into and successful completion of Math C075, C085, H095 or Statistics C012 or H092 satisfies the entire QR requirement. Students placing into Math 0076, 0086, or 0096 have met the QR requirement.
