B.S. in Physics with Teaching

The B.S. with Teaching program in Physics is part of Temple's innovative teacher-training program, “TUteach.” The B.S. with Teaching provides broad training in Physics and prepares students for a career in secondary school teaching. Students who complete the B.S. with Teaching meet Pennsylvania teacher certification requirements via theoretical and practical courses in education specifically designed for science and mathematics majors. The education courses in the B.S. with Teaching degree program include practice teaching in school district classrooms and emphasize inquiry-based approaches to learning.

Bachelor of Science major requirements

Calculus I, II, III; Calculus-based Physics I, II; and Physics 2101, 2502, 2796*, 3301, 4796 and three physics electives chosen from the approved list; and a two-semester science sequence outside of physics along with SCI TEC 1189, 1289; Education 2179; Math Education or Science Education (Secondary) 2189, 4189, XXXX**, XXXX**, XXXX**, XXXX**; and Philosophy 3XXX**.

Writing Intensive Requirement for Major

Students must take a minimum of two writing-intensive courses as part of the major.  Following is a list of courses that can be used to satisfy the writing-intensive requirement:  Earth & Environmental Science 4096, Earth & Environmental Science 4197, Earth & Environmental Science 4997, Physics 2796*, or Physics 4796.

*Pending writing-intensive program approval.

**Pending final course approval.  Contact your academic advisor for more information when applicable.
