The B.S. with Teaching program in Mathematics is part of TUteach, Temple's innovative teachertraining program. The program provides solid mathematical foundation and pedagogical training necessary for success as a high school mathematics teacher. Students who complete the B.S. with Teaching will meet Pennsylvania teacher certification requirements via theoretical and practical courses in education specifically designed for science and mathematics majors. The education courses in the B.S. with Teaching degree program include practice teaching in school district classrooms and emphasize inquirybased approaches to learning.
Bachelor of Science Major RequirementsOne of the following courses in Computer and Information Sciences: C+IN SC 1053, 1057 or C+IN SC 1068; Math 1041, 1042, 2043, 2101, 3003, 3031, 3039, 3061, 3096, 3137, 3138, 4096 and two math electives 3000+ (Math 2196 can count for one of the Math 3000+, provided it is taken prior to Math 3098 and Math 3141); Physics 1061 and 1062; along with SCI TEC 1189, 1289; Education 2179; Math Education or Science Education (Secondary) 2189, 4189, XXXX**, XXXX**, XXXX**, XXXX**; and Philosophy 3XXX**.
Writing Intensive Requirement for MajorStudents must take a minimum of two writingintensive courses as part of the major. Following is a list of courses that can be used to satisfy the writingintensive requirement: Math 2196, Math 3096, or Math 4096. **Pending final course approval.
