Music Therapy

Fully approved by the American
Music Therapy Association, this bachelor’s degree program is designed to
prepare students for entry level clinical positions in music therapy. Upon
successful completion of the degree, graduates are eligible to take the
national examination of the Certification Board for Music Therapists, and
thereby qualify for professional certification in the field.

functional guitar or voice; jazz piano majors take 5 additional credits
of functional guitar, voice, or piano concentration; guitar majors take
an additional 2 credits in functional piano, secondary piano or voice.
# Students may substitute a second semester of "Anatomy" for "Computers

NOTE: Grades below B- in any music
therapy course may not be applied toward degree requirements in music therapy.
Students will be permitted to retake such courses only once, and only with
approval of the music therapy faculty. If a grade below B- is earned upon
retaking the course, the student will not be permitted to continue as a
music therapy major, but may be eligible to change to a different curriculum.

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE PROGRAM
Bachelor of Science
Major in Music
This program is designed to prepare students for entry level positions
in such fields as library science, the publishing industry, communications,
the new computer software industry, and other new and diverse areas of
the music profession. Applicants must arrange to take examinations in the
areas of musicianship and musical aptitude before qualifying for admission
to the program. This may be done by contacting Ms. Linda White (215-204-8301)
at the Boyer College of Music.
