B.S. in Biology with Teaching
The B.S. with Teaching program in Biology is part of Temple's innovative teacher-training program, “TUteach.” The B.S. with teaching provides broad training in Biology, and prepares students for a career in secondary school teaching. Students who complete the B.S. with Teaching will meet Pennsylvania teacher certification requirements via theoretical and practical courses in education specifically designed for science and mathematics majors. The education courses in the B.S. with teaching degree program include practice teaching in school district classrooms and emphasize inquiry-based approaches to learning.
Bachelor of Science Major requirements
Calculus I, II; General Chemistry I, II with labs; Organic Chemistry I, II with labs; calculus-based General Physics I, II; Biology 1111, 2112, 2203, 2227, 3096 and three advanced Biology electives 2000 or above; along with SCI TEC 1189, 1289; Education 2179; Math Education or Science Education (Secondary) 2189, 4189, XXXX*, XXXX*, XXXX*, XXXX*; and Philosophy 3XXX*.
Writing Intensive Requirement for Major
Students must take a minimum of two writing intensive courses as part of the major. Following is a list of courses that can be used to satisfy the writing intensive requirement: Biology 2296**, Biology 3096, Biology 3196 or Biology 3396.
