Legendary Music Producer Phil Ramone to Receive Boyer Award in April

Phil Ramone, who has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Ray Charles, Billy Joel, Luciano Pavarotti and Frank Sinatra, will be presented with the Boyer College Inspiration Award on April 5, 2013 in Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center. Dean Robert T. Stroker will present the award to Ramone during the concert presented by the Temple University Symphony Orchestra.

Ramone is being honored for his unparalleled contributions to the music and recording industry, support of music education, philanthropic work and mentorship of young musicians. In 2010, Boyer presented the same award to the late Dave Brubeck.

The program includes the New York premiere of a work commissioned by Boyer: Reflections on the Mississippi by Michael Daugherty. Boyer faculty member and Principal Tuba with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Carol Jantsch, is the soloist. Also on the program is Semiramide Overture (Rossini) and Symphony No. 9 (Shostakovich).
