The Music Preparatory Division is open for registration and inquiries Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. During July and August, the office is closed Saturday.

TUITION PAYMENT POLICY (Temple Music Prep)

  • All students are charged a registration fee.
  • Tuition and fees can be paid via check, money order or Visa, or MasterCard. We do not accept cash.

For Classes and Ensembles:

Scheduled in multiple 10, 12 or 14-week sessions throughout the academic year.

  • A $20 non-refundable registration fee per student is charged for each class session regardless of the number of classes registered.
  • Students registering for a full-year of classes (three sessions) may pay the full-year registration fee of $50.
  • Tuition is due in full at registration. Registration is not considered complete until tuition is paid.
  • Class tuition cannot be pro-rated.

Classes are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Music Prep reserves the right to cancel a class or to adjust the length of a class, based on class enrollment.

For Individual Lessons

Registered based on a 36-week academic year.

  • Can begin at any time during the school year. Students not beginning at the start of the academic year will be registered for the remainder of the year.
  • Registration fee and tuition for security lessons (final three lessons of the year) are due at time of registration.
  • Lesson tuition can be paid by one of the following methods.

One payment for the full year (36 lessons)

Payment is due before first lesson. Students who pay for the full year in one payment will receive a discounted rate. Call for details. Discount does not apply to mid-year registrations, lessons with special arrangement teachers or lessons fewer than 30-minutes in length.

12-week installments.

Tuition is divided over the course of the year (or remainder) into 12-week sessions. First payment is due before the first lesson. Subsequent payment dates will approximately 12 weeks apart.

6-week installments.

Tuition is divided over the course of the year (or remainder) into 6-week sessions. First payment is due before the first lesson. Subsequent payment dates will be approximately six weeks apart. A $5 installment fee will be added to each installment.

Individual Registration Fee (Non-refundable):
$50 for full year

$40 After December 1

$20 After February 24

Family Registration Fee:
When registering three or more immediate family members, registration fee is only charged for the first two members. Immediate family is defined as siblings and parents.

MAKE-UP LESSONS FOR INDIVIDUAL INSTRUCTION
Lessons missed by the instructor will be rescheduled. Three ndividual lessons missed by a student may be made up during the year at the convenience of the instructor, provided that notice of the absence has been given 24 hours before the scheduled lesson. Should the appointment for a make-up lesson be canceled by the student, the lesson will be considered made up.

REFUND POLICIES
For Classes and Ensembles

  • Full tuition will be refunded only if the Music Prep Office is notified in writing before the first meeting.
  • No tuition is refunded after the first class meeting.
  • Registration fee is non-refundable.

For Individual Lessons

  • All withdrawals must be submitted with at least 8 day/2 lessons notice.
  • Security lessons and registration fee are non-refundable.
  • Withdrawals must be submitted in writing.

In instances of severe weather, Music Prep reserves the right to cancel classes and private lessons.

Scholarships

A limited number of scholarships based on merit and/or need are available. Proof of family size and income required. Request an application through the registrar's office. Deadline for applications is July 1.

In addition, all indoor Temple University-sponsored activities that take place in facilities not owned or operated by Temple University are smoke free in those areas under Temple’s control.
