Undergraduate Music Admissions Information
Bachelor of Music in Jazz Instrumental Performance
With an emphasis on ensemble opportunities and improvisation, students are prepared to perform, tour and record. Students take four years of private lessons with a jazz instructor. In tandem with the core music curriculum, jazz instrumental students take courses in aural skills, improvisation, arranging, business of music, acoustics, computers in musical applications and conducting. Bachelor of Music in Jazz Vocal Performance
Vocal Performance students have numerous opportunities to build their skills as lyricists in tandem with performing with instrumental ensembles. In addition to weekly private lessons and the core music curriculum, vocal performance students take courses in jazz aural skills, improvisation, arranging, business of music, acoustics, computers in musical applications and conducting. Bachelor of Music in Jazz Arranging/Composition
With an emphasis on improvisation, the Jazz Arranging/Composition track prepares students
to enter the field fully equipped with the marketable tools to carve a successful career. Recent graduates are premiering compositions at venues in New York and Philadelphia, scoring films in Los Angeles, teaching in schools and mentoring young people around the country. In addition to courses in the performance concentration, and the core music curriculum, students take courses in jazz and pop history, jazz secondary piano, arranging, improvisation, composition seminars, jazz styles and analysis and conducting. Bachelor of Music Education with Jazz Studies Component
There are 3 concentrations within the Bachelor of Music Education with Jazz Studies Component degree program that allow students to choose a concentration while completing requirements for a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree.

3. Music Education, Voice Concentration with Jazz Studies Component
Bachelor of Music Therapy with Jazz Studies Component
Students are prepared to work as music therapists in a variety of clinical settings. Upon successful completion of this 5-year program, they are eligible to apply for board-certification and hold the professional designation MT-BC. The undergraduate program provides two options: the "Traditional Concentration" for students with a background in classical music, and the Jazz Concentration for students with a background in jazz, rock or popular music. The 5th year includes a 6-credit senior internship. View the curriculum.
