recital procedures
The college procedures are outlined in detail here. Please read it very carefully. There are many deadlines, and missing any of them can cause real problems.
What you need to know about procedures in this department for graduation recitals:
Prior to the performance of a degree recital a student must perform a recital permission jury. This jury should occur at least one month prior to the recital date, and must consist of the solo repertoire, both accompanied and unaccompanied, that will be performed at the recital with the accompanist that will be performing the recital. (Wind and brass players who will be performing chamber music on their recital do not need to perform those pieces at this jury, although they may do so - it is expected that chamber music selections will be coached by the primary lesson teacher). The purpose of the jury is to assess the progress being made toward a successful performance. The department reserves the right, after discussion with the private teacher, to postpone the recital or request an additional jury. Students will be notified as quickly as possible regarding the outcome of their recital permission jury. When possible, the end-of-semester jury occurring the semester prior to the recital should serve as the recital permission jury. Your intent to do this must be communicated to the department so that additional time may be allotted for the jury. Please contact Eric Schweingruber, Director of Instrumental Operations, immediately after confirming a recital date with Jason Horst to discuss the scheduling of your recital permission jury.
