Lessons

Students receive one 50 minute lesson per week. Teacher assignments are made by Glenn Steele after consultation with the percussion faculty.

Lesson Policies:

  • Students are expected to be on time for lessons.
  • Cancellation of a lesson must be made with 24 hours notice.
  • Missed lessons must be rescheduled within two weeks.
  • Missing more than one lesson per semester will result in a reduction of grade.
  • Students are expected to come to the lesson prepared, having practiced, and with the correct music, mallets, sticks and instruments.

Ensembles

All students taking lessons must show evidence of having performed in both large and small ensembles within their degree requirements.  All students taking lessons must perform in percussion ensemble each semester.  Large and small ensemble experience is a laboratory component of the lesson sequence.  Each member of an ensemble is expected to accept all the professional responsibilities necessary for excellent performance.
