Annual ACDA Breakfast - Saturday, February 8, 2014, Baltimore, MD

Co-sponsored by the Boyer College of Music and Dance and the TUAA.

 

The ACDA Eastern Division Conference is meeting from February 5-8 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Our annual breakfast will be held on Saturday morning, the usual time of 7 am and this year, we celebrate our 25th anniversary of the event.   Paul Rardin, Director of Choral Activities, Rollo Dilworth, Jeffrey Cornelius, and Alan Harler are all expected to be there.  Of course I will be there to welcome you once again. Dean and Vice Provost for the Arts, Robert Stroker, Tara Webb-Duey, and Molly Clark Davis of our staff look forward to making a special toast for this event and will be there to meet you and speak to you about the Center for the Arts and its place in the greater Temple University. 

 

It is imperative that you send in your reservation, online or check, but no later than January 28 to guarantee a space and to allow for working with the caterer at the Marriott Hotel..  The charge for a beautiful buffet breakfast is $22.00, the same as the past several years, to offset the expenses.  Please send check to me made out to Temple University. Temple University Choral Reunion

 April 4 – 5, 2014

 

A two-day choral festival with opportunities to rehearse and sing, participate in workshops, tour Temple University’s Main Campus, attend and/or perform in concerts, reminisce with friends, former classmates, faculty and much more.  Featuring appearances by past and present Choral Activities faculty and friends, including Robert Page, Janet Yamron, Sonya Garfinle, Alan Harler, Paul Rardin, Mitos Andaya, and Rollo Dilworth.

Choral Reunion Schedule of Events

 

One of the highlights of the weekend, in addition to the activities listed below is the opportunity to rehearse with current students under the direction of Dr. Paul Rardin.  These rehearsals, of Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass, will culminate in a performance on Saturday night at the Temple Performing Arts Center (TPAC), formerly the Baptist Temple.

Throughout the year several events are held to bring alumni together – to learn, to socialize, to reminisce.  Enjoying performances that showcase the talent of current students, expanding the understanding of a specific piece of work or simply coming back together on the Temple campus, alumni have many opportunities to reconnect.

Alumni Welcome Reception:  A Toast to the New Season.

The Alumni Welcome Reception, a new event sponsored by the Boyer College Alumni Association, provided alumni an opportunity to reminisce with fellow alumni and current faculty at a reception and concert at the glorious Temple Performing Arts Center.  Held on Friday, October 25, 2013 the reception brought together nearly 75 alumni who toasted Maestro Luis Biava for his long, storied career at Temple and also toasted the start of a new season of concerts and performances for the Boyer College of Music and Dance.  The reception was followed by a concert featuring the Temple University Symphony Orchestra. 

Thanks to the Temple University Alumni Association (TUAA) for providing a generous grant in support of this event.

Annual ACDA Breakfast - Saturday, March 15, 2013, Dallas, Texas

The ACDA National Convention met from March 13-16, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. Our annual breakfast was held on Saturday morning at 7 am. Dr. Paul Rardin, the newly appointed Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Mitos Andaya, Associate Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Rollo Dilworth, newly retired Dr. Jeffrey Cornelius, Alan Harler and Janet Yamron were all in attendance along with over 50 alumni.  Dean and Vice Provost for the Center for the Arts, Robert Stroker, welcomed alumni to the 24th Reunion Breakfast at ACDA. 

Choral Reunion - October 2012

In early October 2012 Choral alumni returned to Temple University to rehearse and perform Mozart’s Requiem under the direction of current Director of Choral Activities, Dr. Paul Rardin. Dr. Rardin led alumni and current students in three rehearsals of Mozart’s Requiem which culminated in a glorious performance of the Requiem on Saturday evening, October 6th at the Temple Performing Arts Center. Alumni participants thoroughly enjoyed being back on campus, specifically at Presser Hall, rehearsing in familiar surroundings. The opportunity to perform at Temple’s gorgeous Performing Arts Center was a highlight for many. Following the performance of the Requiem the concert featured a Choral Collage performance by the Temple University Singers, University Chorale, Women’s Chorus, and Concert Choir.
