MUSIC
MINOR
The
Music Minor Program, available to non-music majors within Temple University, has been approved by the Academic Planning & Review Committee,
the Committee on Instruction of the College of Arts & Sciences
and their Collegial Assembly.
The
procedure for declaring the minor in music and for completing the
program is list below.
Please
contact Margo Jackson, margo@temple.edu, to register for courses since many of the listed courses
are taken in a sequential order.
Non-music
students may also take certain music courses and participate in some
music ensembles with special permission of Boyer College Faculty.

Three : Ask Associate Dean for Undergraduate Registration
and Advising to assign you to a music advisor based upon your
main music interests
The
remaining 16 credits may be chosen in the
following distribution:
- A
minimum of 7 credits from the approved
list of music history, music theory, and music literature courses
- As
many as 9 credits from the approved list
of applied (performing) music lessons and ensembles
- Applied
music courses are optional and are not required for the minor, whereas
a minimum of 5 core music credits (0041 and 0143
and 7 credits of music history, music
literature, and music theory credits must be taken. The
remaining 9 credits can be selected from
either or both of the two categories.
Other
courses offered by the Esther Boyer College of Music, but not included
on the attached list, may be taken only by special permission of
the minor advisory and the instructor.
