Do I have to take the GRE/MATs?

Doctoral applicants in Music Education and Composition must submit scores from either the general Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or the Miller Analogies Test (MAT). GRE/MAT scores are not required for Master's and Professional Studies applicants, nor for DMA applicants in Performance.

 

What is the FAFSA Code for Temple University?

Temple's Graduate School FAFSA Code is E00349. 

 

Can I take a lesson with a Boyer faculty member?

Many members of the faculty will meet with prospective students, according to their availability.

What are the TOEFL requirements?

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required of all applicants whose native language is not English. Applicants with an undergraduate degree from an American university are exempt from taking the TOEFL.

TOEFL Scores - All Boyer doctoral applicants must submit minimum scores of 600 on the paper-based version or 250 on the computer-based version of the TOEFL examination in order to be considered for admission.

NOTE: Any student admitted with a TOEFL score below 600 on the paper-based or 250 on the computer-based examination must pass an English skills course or successfully pass the SPEAK test during the first semester of enrollment at Temple University.

 

 

What are the Master Diagnostic Exams?

All entering Master of Music students are required to take

Diagnostic Examinations in Harmony, Counterpoint, Aural

Skills, and Music History prior to the first semester of

graduate study.  The purpose of these examinations is to      determine weaknesses in undergraduate preparation.

 

What are the Doctoral Entrance Examinations?

Required of all entering DMA or PhD students prior to or       during the first semester of matriculation.
