graduate dance admissions
How to Apply to the Department of Dance Admission into the graduate dance programs requires three items:
A dance audition cannot be scheduled until the general Graduate School application and dance application materials have been submitted to the Dance Admissions Office. Please note that The Graduate School will not make an admission decision until all university and departmental application requirements are complete.
Materials common to all graduate applicants: • University Application Form • $50.00 application fee made payable to Temple University • Statement of Goals-#22 on the university application • Transcripts (original, stamped with official seal) from all graduate and undergraduate institutions of study. Transcripts must be received directly from the institution in a sealed envelope. Applicants who attended universities that do not issue transcripts in English must submit official copies of native language records and literal translations prepared by an appropriate university or government official. • MAT or GRE scores-GRE scores must be sent electronically from ETS to Temple University; official paper record for the MAT. • Three letters of reference including the university reference report. References must be received directly from the evaluator in a sealed envelope. • Graduate Teaching Assistantship/Adjunct Faculty Application (if applicable, 4 copies) Additional materials for International Applicants: • TOEFL scores-Required of all applicants who are not native speakers of English, regardless of the previous language of instruction. Applicants with an undergraduate degree from an American university are exempt from taking the TOEFL. TOEFL scores must be sent electronically from ETS to Temple University. • Educational documents-Official copy of the degree certificate certified by the university that the degree was awarded. Applicants who attended institutions that do not issue degree certificates in English must submit official copies of native language records and literal translations prepared by an appropriate university or government official.
Materials for the Master of Fine Arts program: • Personal Data Sheet (6 copies) • MFA Application Questionnaire (6 copies) • Dance Resume/Curriculum Vita (6 copies) • Attendance at an audition • Optional submission of videotape of choreography/performance. Videotapes will not be returned.
Materials for the Master of Education program: • Personal Data Sheet (6 copies) • EdM Application Questionnaire (6 copies) • Dance Resume/Curriculum Vita (6 copies) • Attendance at an audition • Optional submission of videotape of choreography/performance. Videotapes will not be returned.
Please note: We are not accepting applications for the EdM program7-12 Dance Certification track for Fall 2008.Materials for the Doctor of Philosophy program: • Personal Data Sheet (6 copies) • PhD Application Questionnaire (6 copies) • Writing Sample (6 copies) • Dance Resume/Curriculum Vita (6 copies) • Attendance at an audition • Optional submission of videotape of choreography/performance. Videotapes will not be returned.
