Graduate Curricula Master of Fine Arts Curriculum Categories Choreographic Skills and Resources - 23 credit minimum Dance Performance - 9 credit minimum Dance Practicum - 3 credit minimum Extensions and Perspectives - 10 credit minimum Master's Concert - 5 credit total Outside Electives - 6 credit minimum These requirements total 56 credits, leaving 4 credits to be distributed among the categories in a program designed in consultation with the MFA Advisor. Master of Education Curriculum Categories All Master of Education students electing the Dance Education Studies or Cultural Studies track are required to take the Core Sequence, followed by election of one of the Tracks. The Core Sequence constitutes 23 credits and the Track 15 credits, with the total credits required being 38. Doctor of Philosophy Curriculum The Ph.D. in Dance requires 79 credit hours total (including 9 credit hours of Pre-Dissertation and Dissertation Research). Coursework can be delineated into the following categories: Required Courses: 22 credit hours Interdisciplinary Courses: 6 credit hours Elective Credit: 9 credit hours minimum Dissertation Credit: 9 credit hours Note that a maximum of up to 33 credits may be awarded in Advanced Standing to obtain the 79 required credits for the degree. The Doctoral Coordinator, acting in consultation with the Doctoral Faculty Committee, awards advanced standing credit upon review of student transcripts.
