financial aid - Dance

Graduate

Temple University’s tuition rates reflect a subsidy from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The difference in base tuition between Temple and other institutions should be considered when comparing financial aid offers from colleges.

Only PhD and MFA applicants are eligible for Graduate Teaching Assistantship and University Fellowship awards.

Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTA)

Graduate Teaching Assistants are highly qualified instructors.  Teaching responsibilities include teaching non-major university core courses. On occasion, Graduate Teaching Assistants are assigned to teach technique, repertory, or classes germane to their area of study. This award includes a monthly stipend, health insurance, and tuition remission. The award is for one year. Students must re-apply for the award for a second appointment.

All applicants interested in applying or the GTA must have a cumulative GPA of 3.25.

University Fellowships

The Graduate Board, acting on nominations made by departments, awards Presidential, University, and Future Faculty Fellowships. All fellowships carry tuition remission, stipend, and health insurance. These fellowships are reserved for full-time students and are intended primarily for the support of doctoral students and students in terminal degree programs. Fellowship recipients are not required to perform services for the award, but they must remain in good academic standing. Students who hold Fellowships many not hold full or part-time employment or accept any other awards. Only the Dean of the Graduate School or his/her designee may grant exceptions. Nominations from the department are solicited early in the spring semester and awards are made by mid semester.

Fellowship nominees should have a 3.5 GPA or higher and GRE or MAT scores over the 50th percentile.  Interested applicants are encouraged to use GRE and MAT preparatory materials.  Information can be found at HarcourtAssessment.com or pracmats.

The departments in the Division of Student Affairs offer a number of non-academic graduate externs. Please contact respective departments for available positions. Appointments will be made by each department before the start of the academic year in the fall.   Externships are usually 10-month  (usually September to June, but ask the department for specifics) appointments and are compensated with a monthly stipend.
