      Phillip O'Banion is artistic director of the Temple University Percussion Ensemble, teaches applied lessons and studio classes, lectures on percussion in a variety of course settings, and hosts the annual ‘Alan Abel Orchestral Percussion Seminar’ each summer.

      O’Banion often appears with the Philadelphia Orchestra and other regional symphonies, plays drum set and percussion with various theater companies and choruses, remains active as a recitalist, clinician, and a chamber musician with groups such as the Network for New Music. He has been featured as marimba soloist with the Temple University Chamber Orchestra and timpani soloist with the Temple University Wind Symphony.

      O’Banion is an artist endorser for SABIAN Cymbals and Evans drumheads, 2nd vice president of the Pennsylvania chapter of the Percussive Arts Society, and serves on the P.A.S. Symphonic Committee. His discography ranges from the orchestral genre, to percussion chamber music, to commercial work for Grammy-winning artist Kirk Franklin. Performances can be heard on the Telarc, Gasparo, Bridge, Lyrichord, and Zomba labels. He is a member of the ‘a2’ percussion duo with Temple colleague Nathan Buonviri.
