      Michael Zanders is a Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC), a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), and proficient in trauma based psychotherapy.  Dr. Zanders has over 15 years of clinical experience in music therapy.  Areas of clinical specialty include music therapy with children and adolescents, psychiatry, developmental disabilities, music therapy in medical settings, and foster care youth.

       

      During his music therapy training, he played low brass instruments in various brass bands, touring throughout the world.  He has played on several recordings, including one with the guest conductor Karel Husa and the Temple University Wind Symphony.  Currently, Zanders is on the board of the Norristown Educational Theater.

       

      Zanders has presented both nationally and internationally at conferences and workshops, and has several publications, including chapters in two books.  He has served on the Editorial Board for Qualitative Inquiries in Music Therapy. Zanders has published in the Nordic Journal of Music Therapy, and Qualitative Inquiries in Music Therapy. His current research interest includes: Qualitative methods with foster care youth.
