Dr. Joke Bradt is the Assistant Director of the Arts and Quality of Life Research Center at Temple University. She received her PhD in Health Studies and her Master’s in Music Therapy from Temple University. She holds a Master’s in Music Pedagogy from the prestigious Lemmensinstituut in Belgium.  She is a Board-certified music therapist with clinical expertise in medical music therapy, specifically as it relates to chronic and acute pain management, and has served on the music therapy faculty of Montclair State University. She is an Executive Board Member of the Mid-Atlantic Regional Chapter of the American Music Therapy Association and serves on a variety of professional committees. She has presented her clinical work and research findings extensively at national and international conferences.  She has authored and co-authored several music therapy articles and book chapters.  Most recently, she completed Medical Music Therapy: A Meta-Analysis (Dileo & Bradt , 2005). This book synthesizes findings of experimental research related to music and music therapy interventions with medical populations.  Her research interests include: meta-analysis, efficacy of music therapy interventions with medical populations, ethical issues in music therapy research, music improvisation methods for pain management, and quality of life issues.
