Alan Abel Orchestral Percussion Seminar

June 11-16, 2012

Participation in the Alan Abel Orchestral Percussion Seminar includes clinics and master classes on orchestral
repertoire for snare drum, bass drum, cymbals, xylophone, glockenspiel, vibraphone, marimba, tambourine, triangle, castanets, and other instruments. Some focus will be on balance, timing, tone quality, musical character, and other aspects of performing with a large ensemble. Percussion sectionals are organized to perform with amplified orchestral recordings and conductor.

 

Dorothy Taubman Seminar at Temple University

May 21-26, 2012

The Dorothy Taubman Seminar was founded in May 2003. The Co-Directors are Maria del Pico Taylor and Sondra Tammam. The Co-Founders Maria del Pico Taylor, Sondra Tammam, Father Paul Maillet and the late Eleanor Hancock developed the Seminar as an event to offer "hands on" training as well as Master Classes with Dorothy Taubman.

 

Summer Trombone Workshop 2012

June 13-21, 2012

Summer Trombone Workshop 2012 will explore trombone repertoire in nine days of intensive study. A distinguished faculty will offer students private and public lessons, lectures and concerts. Students will work closely with faculty toward public performances at the end of the workshop.

 

Temple Sings: Summer Seminar In Choral Conducting

July 16-20, 2012

Temple Sings invites choral conductors and enthusiasts to gather in Philadelphia for an upbeat and enriching week. Summer Seminar 2012 will offer conductors of all interests and abilities the opportunity to hone their complete choral craft – from daily master-classes in conducting gesture to interest sessions on a wide variety of topics, including:

  • Rehearsal techniques
  • Score study
  • Vocal health and technique
  • Selecting excellent repertoire
  • Reading sessions

 

Wind Conducting and Teaching Workshop

for wind educators of all levels

July 15-19, 2012

Sessions will explore physical gesture and its relationship to sound, baton technique, rehearsal technique, approaches to score study, programming ideas and repertory. All participants will have daily opportunities to conduct— morning sessions are devoted to chamber ensembles and small group excerpts, and afternoon sessions are devoted to conducting the large Workshop Band and topical discussions. A unique aspect of the Wind Conducting and Teaching Workshop is the opportunity to participate in one of three “tracks” of training.
