Welcome to the Department of Biology at Temple
University. We are dedicated to providing an outstanding educational
experience to students at both the undergraduate as well as graduate
levels . The Department offers programs of study in the life
sciences for students seeking the Bachelor of Arts or the Bachelor
of Science in Biology, or a Master of Science and Ph.D. in Biology.
This is a remarkable time to be a biologist, with
important new discoveries being reported daily in many areas from
Genomics to Biomedicine to Biotechnology. The mission of the
Department is to combine internationally recognized research
programs with a commitment to the very best in undergraduate and
graduate education. We strive to offer our students an educational
experience that encompasses the theoretical, quantitative, and
applied aspects of the biological sciences. We provide students with
intensive practical laboratory and field experiences and advanced
elective options that prepare them to successfully enter the
workforce or pursue advanced degrees. Biology at Temple University
is broadly based, with faculty interested in biological problems at
the molecular, cellular, organismal, and population levels. Our
faculty is comprised of internationally recognized scientists who
share a commitment to quality instruction and research. Please do
