Like many other Eighteenth-Century Pennsylvania legislators, Bucks County legislator David Twining was a prosperous farmer. This painting depicts life on the Twining farm. Twining is shown in the lower right hand corner with his wife Elizabeth and seven-year-old Edward Hicks, who was raised in the Twining household.
