Laboratory for Molecular and Cellular Studies in Reproductive Physiology
Run by L.C. Rockwell, Ph.D. (Biological Anthropology Faculty). Approximately 400 sqft. Major equipment includes -80 Freezer, Laminar Flow Biosafety Cabinet, Spectrophotometer, Centrifuge, Autoclave, Light Microscopes and Image Analysis System for light microscopy; Inverted Microscope, Microtome and Histology processing and embedding equipment, Polyacrylimide Gel Electrophoresis equipment, AlphaImager Gel Documentation Sytem. We are capable of DNA and RNA extraction; PCR and quantitative RT-PCR; basic histology; and immunohistochemistry. We anticipate adding equipment for cell culture and possible a microplate reader for ELISAs. The laboratory is primarily committed to studies in female reproductive function. However, graduate students that conduct studies on genetic variation as well as some archaeologists also make use of the facility.
