Woodshop

The Woodshop is a room where the construction of small and large–scale items can take place. It encourages discovery and experimentation with methods and materials. Monitors are available to help guide the student through both the conceptual and technical processes. The Woodshop is well equipped with machine and hand tools for working in hardwoods, softwoods and panel products. Woodshop facilities may be used by all students and members of staff. Hand tools and portable power tools may be borrowed when available but are not allowed in the studios. All First Year and new students will be required to attend a short course on safe working practices at the beginning of the semester. The Woodshop monitors have a broad range of experience in design, materials and construction. They serve in the role of shop monitors in addition to their academic studies. Their aim is to encourage and support individual students' studio projects that depend upon the use of the Woodshop.
