In her practice since 1992, Kate has specialized in architecture, site planning and master planning for projects for non-profit and community based organizations, educational institutions and residential clients. Kate has a particular interest in projects for populations with special needs such as older people, disabled people and children. Her project experience includes projects with specific and defining site contexts such as rural woodlands and urban parks. Key clients are Center in the Park Senior Center in Germantown and Maple Village Residence, a 70 unit new construction affordable housing facility for older people also in Germantown.

Prior to starting her practice, Kate was employed at Susan Maxman Architects, Cecil Baker and Associates and WRT as project manager and project architect for projects which received national, state and local recognition for design excellence, including an American Institute of Architects Honor Award.
