Two third year architecture students, Hanif Azly and Jeremy Kaltrieder, have won the Platinum Award, first place, in the Delaware Valley Green Building Council Student Sustainable Design Competition. They received a substantial monetary award and a scholarship to attend and present their project at the national GreenBuild conference this fall.
Also from the same studio there were two Honorable Mentions: a team of Andi Bornhoft and Greg Wolfe, and a team of Juan Viera and James McKenna.
The project was for an Urban Agricultural High School. Students developed their architectural schemes in the context of urban design on a seven acre brownfield site in Kensignton/Fishtown. The winning projects from Temple were commended for their creative response to sustainability, visual expression, and for integration of the physical site and social context in the concept and development.
There were close to 100 entries: from Drexel, UPenn, Philadelphia University, Lehigh University and Philadelphia Community College, as well as Temple.
This is the third year that Temple Architecture students have won awards as part of this student competition. |
