The Department of Architecture invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position beginning in fall 2008 at the Assistant Professor level. Qualified candidates should demonstrate understanding and expertise in questions of current design culture and theoretical discourse as applicable to architectural and planning practice in a global context. Candidates should either have a history of professional experience or have been engaged in high level architectural, urban or planning research initiatives. Candidates should have a portfolio demonstrating records of accomplishments in social and theoretical urbanism, planning, landscape or architectural design or scholarship in these areas. The candidate must hold a terminal degree in architecture, planning or a related discipline and equivalent experience in research or practice with a focus that would enhance the department’s position for global engagement.
The candidate will be required to teach design or planning studios and have a focus in one or more of the following areas:
- spatial and social planning theory in a global context
- urban history and theory
- behavior and culture
- sustainable human ecology
The candidate will also serve as a thesis advisor and will be required to serve on Department, College and University committees. The salary will be competitive at an assistant professor level.
