Programs & Activities
Summer Research:
AMP students work with prominent faculty and graduate students on innovative research projects that take place at Temple's laboratories. Students can do research work in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, the Pharmacy School, the Medical School and Engineering. The students receive research stipends of $3000.
Freshmen Seminar - Introduction to Academics in the Sciences (CST 51)
This is a 1 credit course recommended to all freshmen students. This course prepares students for the academic requirements of science curricula, and provides guided exploration of potential career opportunities.
Supplemental Instruction - AMP tutoring
AMP students are provided support in courses of mathematics, chemistry and biology courses. Specialized tutors (graduate students) who are highly talented help the students to receive higher grades in the respective courses. Special requests for specific courses can also be arranged.
Peer Mentoring
This is given to the incoming freshmen students. The peer mentors are upper class AMP students. The mentors meet with the freshmen to address the students' academic and/or social concerns.
AMP Living Learning Community (LLC-Housing)
AMP students living together in the dorm provides a stronger sense of community, an increase level of networking, group study sessions and peer mentoring. Two AMP Resident Mentors are present to in the floor to guide the students and organize weekly meetings, tutoring sessions and group study sessions. (AMP Housing)
Bridges to the Doctorate
Students interested in graduate/doctorate education in SMET disciplines are offered GRE preparations and workshops. Special lectures and meetings are set with faculty and graduate students to guide students about graduate school and the various researches that can be done at Temple. Students can be assisted in being placed in partner AMP institutions through the Bridges to the Doctorate Program.
