About AMP
AMP is a nationwide program funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) since 1993 in an effort to increase the enrollment, retention, and graduation rate of underrepresented minority students majoring in Science, Math, Engineering and Technology (SMET) disciplines. Temple joined the greater Philadelphia AMP program in 1994. Philadelphia AMP is a partnership of nine of universities from the three adjoining states: New Jersey, Delaware and Pennsylvania.
The student-centered AMP organization at Temple University is designed to develop the comprehensive strategies necessary to increase the number of minority students who successfully complete baccalaureates in the SMET fields.
Our mission is realized by an active team of students and faculty who work together to help the students in all their educational endeavors: students are assisted in all issues of academic and social concerns.
The program has monthly meetings, seminars, workshops, and tutoring for all the members. AMP also has a floor in a Residence Hall, which provides the students with a stronger sense of community, an increased level of networking, group study sessions and peer mentoring.
