Marc Lamont Hill is an Assistant Professor of Urban Education at Temple University. His American Studies scholarship focuses on hip-hop culture, ghetto surveillance, Black public intellectuals, neo-liberalism, and 21st Century African American religion. His current book project, You Ain’t Heard It From Me, examines the cultural politics of snitching, rumors, and gossip in African American public and counter-public spaces. In addition to his academic work, Dr. Hill is a political activist and public intellectual, providing commentary for numerous media outlets, including his own daily political/news blog, MarcLamontHill.com. Trained as an anthropologist of education, he holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania.
