Facilities Overview

Temple University Fort Washington is housed in two buildings and includes wireless technology in the 401 space, 14 well-equipped classrooms, four computer classrooms/labs with 112 computers with flat screen monitors, six videoconference rooms, two vending areas, administrative and faculty offices, and comfortable lobby areas.

The Administrative Office serves faculty, graduate and non-credit students and other visitors to the Temple University Fort Washington campus. The office is staffed from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 pm, Monday through Thursdays, and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Although the campus is open most weekends, the Administrative Office is not staffed during that time. The Office centralizes the following services and equipment: reservations for faculty offices, photocopy machine for faculty use, classroom materials (such as white board markers/erasers), headquarters for technical support, faculty mailboxes, student reservations for space for study groups, conference services, and non-credit program administration. In addition, staff members are helpful and equipped to address student and faculty concerns.
Parking
Parking is free and available around the 401 and 425 Commerce buildings at Temple University Fort Washington. Students and faculty are requested to park in designated spots in the lots surrounding the two buildings. Traffic lanes must be clear and accessible for safety reasons.

Wireless technology is available in the 401 building. This allows faculty and students to bring in their own laptops and browse the Web, send and receive emails and instant messages from anywhere in the 401 building. To learn more, including laptop requirements and how to register your laptop, go here. In addition, all classrooms at Temple University Fort Washington are internet ready.

Computer Services offers a wide range of audiovisual equipment to faculty members who teach at Temple University Fort Washington. Each room is equipped with an overhead, desktop podium and flip chart. Below is a list of equipment available from the Audio-Visual Department for instructors and students to use for class presentations:

  • VCR and 19” monitor
  • Smart Carts
  • Video camera and tripod
  • Slide projector
  • Boom Box (CD and tape player)
  • Microphone and speaker
  • Document Camera

Equipment is reserved on a “first come, first served” basis, and may be reserved for the entire semester. Faculty members are encouraged to make reservations as soon as possible due to heavy usage during some evenings and particularly during the weeks prior to final examinations.

Three computer classrooms and one open computer lab are available to students and faculty and to external organizations for educational training purposes. The computer classrooms and labs are equipped with a total of 101 computers, all with flat panel monitors. The open computer lab has new Pentium D 3.40 GHz computers while the computer classrooms and A/V smartcarts are equipped with 2.8 GHz computers. Labs and equipment can be reserved for specific dates or an entire semester. Graduate faculty and students can make reservations with Larry O’Reilly, by phone, e-mail or in person at least two weeks prior to the date needed. External organizations wishing reservations for computer classrooms or equipment, contact Dottie Busillo at 267-468-8501.

The Temple University Ambler Library has a wealth of educational materials for both students and faculty. The Temple University Libraries are linked together through the Online Catalog which is a single web-based gateway to all library resources. The Scholars Information Network is linked with the Internet to provide nationwide searches for research materials as well. A valid Temple ID is required to use electronic resources in the library. 
Bookstore
Location: Room 121, 401 Commerce building at Temple University Fort Washington
Temple University Ambler’s Bookstore sets up temporary quarters in Room 121 at the start of each semester and sells textbooks required for many of the graduate courses offered at the Fort Washington campus. Signs are posted at the start of each semester announcing the days and hours of the bookstore operation at Fort Washington. Temple University Ambler’s Bookstore is permanently located at the Ambler campus in Bright Hall and can be reached at 267-468-8460 at sm694@bncollege.com. QA/RA students should check their program website about their book requirements and ordering process.
Photocopy Machine (for faculty and office use)
Location: Administrative Office, Room 102, 401 Commerce building of Temple University Fort Washington
A photocopy machine for small, last minute copying projects is available for faculty use and is located in the administrative office. Departmental codes are needed to use the machine. The staff member in the office can assist you with the code. Please note that departments are charged for photocopies that are made at Fort Washington. In most cases, all major copying projects should be processed in advance directly with academic departments. Most QA/RA copying is handled by the QA/RA office staff in the 425 building of Temple University Fort Washington.
Student Copy Machine
Location: Rear Lobby of 401 Commerce building of Temple University Fort Washington
A copy machine is available to students for small copying at the rear lobby of Temple University Fort Washington. This machine takes coins ($.10 per copy) and Temple’s Diamond Dollars. 
Lounges and Vending Machines
Lounges are located in the 401 and 425 Commerce buildings. In addition, vending machines are located in the café in the 401 Commerce building and in the lobby of the 425 Commerce building. Coffee, soda, water, and snacks are available.

Faculty Offices are available and can be reserved for use by contacting Dorothy Busillo at 267-468-8501 or via e-mail at bdorothy@temple.edu. Please specify your time and date needs. In addition, faculty can visit the administrative office at Temple University Fort Washington and request their needs as well. Please note that use of the faculty offices is restricted to instructors teaching credit courses.

Graduate Faculty Mailboxes

Faculty mailboxes are created each semester and are available in the Administrative Office for University communications.
