TUFW History

Welcome to Temple University Fort Washington!

The campus opened in August of 1997 in the Fort Washington Office Park as a graduate and professional education center and satellite location of Temple University Ambler.

It was designed to serve adult professional graduate students and the educational needs of businesses in the area. Temple’s graduate programs in Business (MBA); Educational Administration (EdM); and Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs (QA/RA), formerly housed at Temple University Ambler, were moved to the Fort Washington location. As a result, new and improved classroom space and computer resources became available to students at this new site.

Today, the campus continues to provide a corporate atmosphere in a convenient and professional setting for its students. Located close to major highways (the Fort Washington exit of Route 309 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike) in the Fort Washington Office Park, the campus features walk-up and free parking directly outside of the buildings.

The campus serves almost 1,000 part-time, evening and weekend graduate students. Most are adult professionals who choose Temple University Fort Washington for its high quality graduate programs and its convenient location near their homes or workplaces. One of its largest programs, the master’s degree program in Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs, features video-conferencing capability. Many of its traditional “live” graduate classes taught at the TUFW site are delivered to numerous corporate sites in the United States through videoconferencing technology.

The campus also offers hundreds of non-credit classes each year that meet both professional and personal enrichment needs of adult learners of all ages. The campus offers conference services during daytime hours to area businesses, too, providing corporate-style classrooms, computer labs, and video-conferencing rooms for educational meetings and training programs.

Temple University Fort Washington is housed in two buildings (401 and 425 Commerce Drive) and includes wireless technology, 14 well-equipped classrooms, four computer classrooms/labs with 112 computers with flat screen monitors, six video-conference rooms, two vending areas, administrative and faculty offices, and comfortable lobby areas. The setting is ideal for busy students and graduate and professional education.

In addition to the graduate programs at Temple University Fort Washington, master’s degree programs in Community and Regional Planning, Education (Master of Science in Education) and Social Work have expanded the graduate options and are available at the Temple University Ambler campus, located just two miles away.
