Master of Landscape Architecture Program Receives Six-Year Accreditation from Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board

Following accreditation visits during the 2012-2013 school year from members of the Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB), Temple’s Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture has received full accreditation for the Master of Landscape Architecture (MLArch) program.

Since its inception in 2010, the mission of the MLArch program has been to educate students “in the skills required of professional landscape architects, including design, computer graphics, horticultural knowledge, and  technical competence, and in particular landscape restoration,” according to Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Chair, Pauline Hurley-Kurtz.

"The board awarded the MLArch program accreditation for six years — the longest term possible — which I think reflects the fact that we have an excellent program in place,” she said. “Our thanks to all the faculty and staff who have helped develop the program, in particular, (former department chair) Dr. Mary Myers and (MLArch Instructor) John Munro who incorporated an emphasis on landscape restoration that MLArch offers. The accreditation team indicated that we were leading the field in this type of program."
