AMBLER OWL AMBASSADORS TO SPONSOR FOOD DRIVE
TO SUPPORT THE CAMP OUT FOR HUNGER

The Ambler campus Owl Ambassadors invite all Temple University Ambler students, faculty, and staff, to help support one of the largest hunger relief campaigns in the region.

From Monday, November 27 through Thursday, December 7, the Ambassadors will be collecting non-perishable food items for the 10th Annual Camp Out for Hunger, sponsored by the Preston and Steve Show on 93.3-FM WMMR on behalf of Philabundance.

Morning show DJs Preston Elliot and Steve Morrison will be living in an RV parked outside the Guitar Center at the Metroplex Shopping Center in Plymouth Meeting from Monday, December 4, at 6 a.m., to Friday, December 8, at 10 p.m. to raise awareness about hunger relief efforts in the region. Last year, over 8 tons of food was donated and went to help families in the Philadelphia area.

At the Ambler campus, the Owl Ambassadors will have marked drop off boxes located in Bright Hall, West Hall, and the Learning Center.

"Not only are the Owl Ambassadors tour guides, but they are leaders on campus. What better way to use your leadership skills than to help out a great cause?" said Rachel Oliver, Senior Admissions Counselor and coordinator of the Owl Ambassador program at the Ambler campus.

"Last year, we collected over 200 pounds of food and were very excited. I had the chance to talk to Preston and Steve live on the radio, which has been one of best experiences I have had, and it also gave us the opportunity to promote the great things happening at Ambler."

Philabundance suggests that all donations for Camp Out for Hunger be in boxes, cans, or plastic bottles and not require refrigeration. Examples include canned tuna, ready-to-eat cereal, canned vegetables, and peanut butter and jelly.

Delivery to the Camp Out for Hunger site will be made on Friday, December 8, by the Owl Ambassadors.

"There are a lot of food drives and charity programs at this time of year on campus - our students are very dedicated to helping people and families in need," Oliver said. "We are confident that we will receive a huge amount of support from the Ambler campus community and reach our goal of collecting 500 pounds of food this year!"
