Author of Andrea Cochran: Landscapes (2009), and co-author of the anthology Sustainable Design (2010) Dr. Mary Myers is a registered landscape architect whose years in practice inform her teaching, research and outreach.
Dr. Myers has served as President of the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture, (CELA), a national and international organization for landscape architecture professors. In 2010, she was honored with the designation of CELA Fellow.
She currently serves on the national Landscape Architecture Accreditation Board, which oversees accreditation of landscape architecture degree programs in the United States. Her writing has been published in Landscape Architecture Magazine, Landscape Journal, Public Roads and other journals.
An avid proponent of using science as a basis for design, she spearheaded development of the Temple University Master of Landscape Architecture program with a concentration in Ecological Landscape Restoration.
She has taught landscape design studios, landscape architecture history, the history of parks and parkways, natural and built environments, landscape restoration and co-taught landscape restoration workshop. She developed and co-taught the General Education course Science of Sustainable Design and currently teaches the Woodland Design Studio and Ecological Aesthetics in the Master of Landscape Architecture program.
