The Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture at Temple University is committed to excellence in ecologically based education. Our goal is to train leaders in the art and science of horticulture and landscape architecture. Our programs (Landscape Architecture - BS and MLArch) and Horticulture (BS and AS) provide students with a knowledge and an understanding of the environment so that they can improve the quality of our urban, suburban and rural communities.
Temple University Ambler’s sustainable mission took another large step further as stormwater management specialists Complete Aquatics installed a “SustainRain” underground rain harvest system for the campus Greenhouse, which is expected to capture thousands of gallons of rainwater each year.
Temple’s Department of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture
collaborated with the Ambler Arboretum of Temple University, the Philadelphia Zoo and Fairmount Park on the project to plant hundreds of trees in the park, which will reduce Philadelphia’s carbon footprint, control storm water runoff and restore wildlife habitats lost due to invasive species.
