To enroll in graduate classes, it is not necessary for students to apply and be admitted to a degree program (matriculated students). Non-degree seeking (non-matriculated) graduate students take courses for professional development, for personal enrichment, or for future application to a degree program. However, at the time of initial registration, new students must provide proof of graduation, a final transcript or diploma, from a baccalaureate degree program at an accredited college or university.
As a general rule, non-degree seeking (non-matriculated) graduate students can take up to three graduate courses (a maximum of 9 s.h.) before they are formally admitted into an academic program, although some graduate departments do not authorize the enrollment of Non-degree seeking (non-matriculated) students.
Getting Infortmation on a Program of Choice
There are a number of ways that prospective graduate students can learn about programs and courses available at Temple University Ambler and Fort Washington.
Graduate Open Houses
Temple University Fort Washington (link to Temple University Fort Washington) sponsors two Graduate Open Houses each year, on the Wednesday evening before the start of the fall and spring semesters. Representatives of programs offered at Fort Washington and Ambler are available to answer questions about programs, concentration options, curricular requirements, and the admissions criteria and process. The Graduate Open House is an excellent opportunity to have your questions answered by admissions staff, advisors, or faculty.
Information Sessions
Pharmacy’s Quality Assurance/Regulatory Affairs (QA/RA) program and the Fox School of Business sponsor Information Sessions which provide details about their programs and about how to get started. The Fox School of Business runs monthly Information Sessions at Fort Washington. QA/RA hosts Information Sessions prior to the start of the fall and spring semesters. The dates of these Information Sessions are listed on the program websites.
Key Contacts
At any time of the year, students are welcome to contact the department of choice for general information and/or a personal appointment. For the programs offered at Temple University Fort Washington or Ambler, the contact persons are listed in the description of the program. For other Temple University graduate programs, refer to the Graduate Bulletin for specific information and contact persons within the program of choice. The staff at Fort Washington campus, 267-468-8500, is also available to provide help in obtaining contact information
Registering for Classes
To determine the specific course for which to register, students are strongly encouraged to seek academic advising from the graduate faculty within the program of their choice at an Information Session, Open House, or through individual contact.
Registration services for both Ambler and Fort Washington graduate courses are available through the Ambler campus offices of Academic Advising and Academic Services/Registration (Direct link to Academic Services section). To begin the registration process, new students complete the Statistical Record for New and Returning Students and the Registration for Non-degree seeking (non-matriculated)/Visiting students.
The forms may be submitted in person, by mail — Temple University Fort Washington, 401 Commerce Drive, Fort Washington, PA 19034, or by fax to 267-468-8255. (Note: Continuing Temple students can register online through the Self Service Banner at Tuportal, the Temple University Online Registration System.)
