Temple University Ambler Student Organizations at EarthFest

Since the event's inception in 2003, Temple University Ambler's student organizations have joined together to provide fun, educational programs for students of all ages. Whether it's bringing new, fun, educational programming to the event or leading visitors in a game of "Recycle Bottle Bowling," our students seek to teach environmental stewardship through interactive, creative, hands-on activities.

American Marketing Association

At EarthFest 2008, the American Marketing Association is partnering with the Sigma Chi Delta Sorority and the Society for Exceptional Educators to bring Philadelphia-based interactive science/education organization Wondergy's to the event for the first time. Using liquid nitrogen, Wondergy will create fresh ice cream at their exhibit booth! On the EarthFest Main Stage, Wondergy will present "CoolScience."

Brothers and Sisters United

The Brothers and Sisters United student organization will help educate visitors about recycling through a series of carnival games, including "Recycle Bottle Bowling" and "Earth Ball Toss." The organization members will also lead visitors in creating their own necklaces with household items, such as macaroni!

Criminal Justice Society

The Criminal Justice Society will lead students in creating sand art projects. Working with PA Cleanways, the organization will also provide activities that promote environmental stewardship and recycling.

Gamma Sigma Sigma Sorority

The sisters of the Gamma Sigma Sigma Sorority will teach students how to place plants in planters, which the students will decorate. The hand decorated planters will be donated to an area assisted living home.

Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Student Association

The Landscape Architecture and Horticulture Student Association will provide a hands-on lesson in horticulture and sustainability as they help our student visitors pot a plant of their own to take home in personalized containers. The students will also lead visitors in a fast paced and fun recycling demonstration - the Jubilee student organization will assist with the recycling game - in addition to sharing important information about our sustainable campus and our programs in Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, which place students in a unique position to help preserve their natural landscapes for today and tomorrow.

Residence Hall Senate

The Temple University Ambler Residence Hall Senate will host a variety of fun and interactive games relating to the environment for young children at EarthFest 2008.

Sigma Chi Delta Sorority

The Sigma Chi Delta Sorority will lead students in a hands-on sensory activity promoting healthy eating. Students will have to determine what type of fruit or vegetable is hidden inside of a bag just by sense of touch and smell. The sorority, in cooperation with the American Marketing Association and the Society for Exceptional Educators, is also sponsoring Wondergy's participation in EarthFest 2008. Using liquid nitrogen, Wondergy will create fresh ice cream at their exhibit booth! On the EarthFest Main Stage, Wondergy will present "CoolScience."
