Students of Upper Perkiomen High School
Environmental Science classes retrofitted an existing storm drain by
raising the inlet to prevent normal rainfall event runoff from entering
the storm drain lines. After the storm drain retrofit was completed, the
students installed a rain garden around the raised inlet to promote
runoff purification and infiltration. The purpose of the project was to
reduce and purify stormwater runoff from entering into the Green Lane
Reservoir and eventually the Perkiomen Creek. Technical help for the
project was received from Susan Harris of the Montgomery County
Conservation District. |
